Hello Everyone,
I want to thank all those who came to the History Club meetings last
week. We discussed a number of possible events for the upcoming
academic year. As the club’s officers, Prof. Kreydatus, and I meet to
map out some specific activities for the Fall and Spring Terms, we
would like a bit of feedback from you concerning your possible interest
in particular events.

Here is a list of the events/activities that I mentioned and which were
suggested by you all.
Look over the list and tell us the 3 activities you would find most
interesting.
1. History Movie Nights (What would you esp like to see?)
2. Historian Lectures in Williamsburg and in the HR area
3. Field Trip to Mariner’s Museum
4. Civil War field trip to a Virginia Battlefield
5. Field Trip to Gettysburg Battlefield (2-3 nights)
6. Visiting Colonial Williamsburg (perhaps during the Grand
Illumination)
7. Veteran’s Panel Discussion during Veteran’s Day Weekend or during
the Spring term
8. Visiting a Renaissance Fair
9. Field Trip to Richmond to visit the city’s museums
10. Field Trip to the Smithsonian for an exhibit on ancient history
(Spring term)
11. Visiting Jamestown National Park and/or Jamestown Settlement
12. Visiting several of the James River Plantations along Route 5
13. Field Trip to the Battery Museum at Fort Monroe
14. Field Trip to Yorktown
15. Trip to Roanoke Island – site of the 1587 “Lost Colony”
Last year, we also held semi-weekly meetings that lasted between
45minutes to 1 hour. We are still looking for a time (or times) that
will work for most students.
But what would you like to DO during these meetings. Last year, we had
one or two guest speakers. And we plan to do that again. Any other
ideas?
Look forward to seeing you all at our meetings and trips.
Sincerely,
Prof. Hamilton
